About
us

Let us introduce ourselves, we are Claire and Davide and our adventure in Ustica began almost by chance,as we were two young professionals looking for a diving centre to work in. A centre that was professional, well-organised, dedicated to customer care and respect for the environment, but also friendly, fun and respectful of its staff.

We found all this in Orca Diving Ustica, a fantastic diving centre headed at the time by Cristina. Since 2016 and 2018 respectively, we have worked with her to make this wonderful reality grow and improve. In 2021 Cristina decided to pass on the torch and we did not hesitate to pick it up to achieve our dream of owning a diving centre in Sicily and Ustica, the undisputed diving capital of the Mediterranean Sea!

Our aim is to continue improving an already winning formula, using our experience accumulated over the years to offer even more beautiful dives, increasingly impeccable organization and lots and lots of fun, all in maximum safety!

Claire

Claire

Originally from Normandy, I have always been in contact with the sea and water in general and started scuba diving quite naturally as a teenager. I put this passion aside for a few years when I continued my Master's degree and started to work in human resources management in Canada and then in Australia.  It was in Australia that the opportunity arose for me to start diving again and to obtain my Divemaster. I grabbed the opportunity and decided to take what I called "a little break in my career".

I landed by chance in Ustica (Sicily) with my backpack in the summer of 2016 and, even though I didn't speak a word of Italian, I was immediately charmed by the island, its dives, its people and Orca Diving Ustica for which I started working. 7 years later and as many summers spent in Ustica, I must admit that "this little break" has simply become my real life.

Davide

Being born in a small town of Sicily on the Palermo coast, I was lucky enough to experience the sea from an early age. All this led me to love the sea so much and I soon started free diving, driven by the curiosity to explore and learn what lies beneath the surface of the sea.

After my first scuba diving experience in 2012, I soon understood that scuba diving was my future, and as early as 2013 I began my first professional experience. In 2014 I became a scuba diving instructor and then did the cross-over to become a PADI instructor in 2017.

My first work experience in Ustica was in 2016, and since then I have continued to deepen my knowledge of its fabulous seabed, of which I am beginning to get to know a lot, knowing that it still has many secrets that I hope to unveil, so that one day I can reveal them to you!

Steven

Steven is a passionate and inquisitive dive instructor who has been travelling the world and the oceans for five years.

With four years' experience in the Red Sea, the Caribbean, the Mediterranean and South-East Asia, he has developed an in-depth knowledge of the marine world. Now in his fourth year with Orca Diving Ustica, he'll be delighted to show you around his island and its wonders. Pedagogical and attentive, he passes on his fascination for the sea and the importance of protecting it with every dive. He will be delighted to chat with you in French, English, Italian and Spanish.

Julye

Immersed in the marine world since childhood and introduced to scuba diving at the age of 11 by her father, Julye quickly developed a real passion for the depths of the sea. All her training was completed at Orca Diving Ustica, where she now proudly works. As a student and travel enthusiast, Julye is ready to share her knowledge and love of the sea with others. Whether it's guiding adventure-seeking divers or passing on her curiosity about marine life.

Marina

Born in Argentina but with her heart in Italy. Her passion for this country led her to discover scuba diving in the beautiful island of Ustica three years ago. Last year, she left her job as a data scientist to train as a Dive Master and fully dedicate herself to this passion. She is in love with Ustica, both underwater and on land, and she's ready to help you fall in love with this incredible island too. With a smile on her face and a bad joke up her sleeve, she's always happy to assist you in Spanish, Italian, English, and Portuguese.

Paul

Originally from Nantes and Guadeloupe, after five years of studies, my uncle offered me the opportunity to join him in the Philippines at his diving center. There, he passed on his passion for the underwater world, and I had the chance to discover scuba diving as part of everyday life. This experience was a turning point for me, as it made me realize that diving was not just a passion, but a true vocation. It was in the Philippines, inspired by this exceptional environment and by the desire to share this passion with others, that I decided to turn it into my profession and became a diving instructor and I'm now in Ustica, ready to guide you and teach you in French or English!

Mathia

I’m Mathia, a Divemaster and part of the Orca Diving Ustica team since last year. I live here in Ustica, so the sea is not just my workplace — it’s my everyday environment and home. I had my first dive at just 9 years old, and since then I’ve never really left the Mediterranean behind. Growing up surrounded by it shaped my path naturally into diving, and today I’m lucky enough to turn that lifelong connection into my profession. I work as both a boat diver and a dive guide, supporting divers in and out of the water and helping ensure safe, enjoyable experiences on every dive. I especially enjoy guiding dives and sharing the underwater world with people from different backgrounds. I speak Italian, Spanish, and English, which allows me to connect easily with divers from all over the world and make them feel comfortable both on the boat and underwater.

Francesco

Raised among the landscapes of the plains, my mind was always turned toward the sea. My love for the blue began early — at just 15 years old, while on holiday in Greece, I put my head underwater for the first time, and since then I’ve never stopped chasing bubbles.

I completed my first courses exploring the wonders of the Mediterranean, between the seabeds of Argentario and the marine protected areas of Liguria.

But my desire to discover the world took me much further. Last year, I decided to make a radical change in my life, leaving my job to pursue my dream of traveling full-time.

This choice led me to the warm waters of Thailand, in Koh Tao, where I fulfilled my passion by becoming a Divemaster.

Today, with my backpack always ready and my wetsuit close at hand, I can’t wait to share with you the beauty of the underwater world and the joy of someone who has chosen to make the ocean his home.

Julie

Passionate about wildlife and nature since childhood, I discovered in 2019, in New Caledonia, the fascinating parallel world of the ocean. Through travels and dives, this revelation became clear: to train professionally in order to share my passion, raise awareness about the protection and conservation of the marine environment, teach others, and keep exploring again and again.

Giuseppe

I was born in Udine in northern Italy, but both of my parents are Sicilian, and I grew up with a strong connection to the Mediterranean Sea. Before becoming a diving professional, I built a career in finance in cities such as London, Munich, and Vienna, after spending time studying abroad in Los Angeles and New Delhi. Eventually, however, the ocean proved stronger than the office. After discovering scuba diving in 2012, what started as a passion soon became a new life path. Today, I work as a PADI and SSI instructor, trip leader, and boat captain, and I have logged more than 3,800 dives guiding divers in the Mediterranean, the Maldives, the Red Sea, the Caribbean, and Thailand. Fluent in Italian, English, Spanish, and German, I truly enjoy sharing my love for the sea and exploring the underwater world with divers from all over the globe.
